ABOUT THE FIRM

Dennis John Peyton was born and raised in Wisconsin, where he received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin. He earned a graduate degree in Mexican Corporate and Economic law from La Universidad Panamericana and his law degree from La Universidad Tecnológica de México, both in Mexico City. He is currently licensed to practice law in Mexico and is in good standing, and is an associate member of the American Bar Association. 

 Mr. Peyton lived and worked in Mexico City with a prominent Mexican law firm throughout the 1980's, and spent several years focused on large multinational joint ventures, real estate development, foreign investment in Mexico, as well as Mexican commercial, corporate and business law, in addition to probate and estate issues for foreigners in Mexico. This experience has allowed him to gain extensive knowledge and expertise in representing Americans in Mexico.

During the 1990's Mr. Peyton opened offices in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico and started to form a group of professionals to cater to the legal needs of Americans in Mexico. With the creation of Peyton & Associates the firm expanded its knowledge base in areas such as telecommunications and interfacing with the Mexican government in assisting Americans in Mexico. The firm also worked with other law firms in the United States in cross border litigation and insurance litigation involving foreigners in Mexico, and expert witness testimony support for litigation in the United States.

Peyton & Associates filed the first NAFTA arbitration hearing solely on behalf of unincorporated individual investors in Punta Banda , Baja California Mexico in addition to supporting criminal and civil litigation in that matter.  During the late 1990's and into the 2000's Peyton & Associates worked with the Mexican government and American investors in transactions involving Ejido properties as well as private property throughout Mexico.

Mr. Peyton is a recognize expert in Mexican law and has been a expert witness in cases in the United States which involve Mexican legal issues in the States of California and Arizona. 

Mr. Peyton is the co-author of The Executive's Guide to Doing Business in Mexico and the book, How to Buy Real Estate in Mexico   which in now in its third edition. Mr. Peyton is the past legal editor of The Baja Sun, a Baja California English language newspaper, and Mexico Business Law Alert, Published by Lee Smith, Publishers, Nashville, TN, a nationally distributed newsletter on Mexican Legal issues. His articles and advice have been published in California Lawyer, the Wall Street Journal , the New York Times , the Los Angeles Times , The San Diego Business Journal , the Los Angeles Business Journal , the Houston Chronicle , the San Diego Union-Tribune as well the El Financiero International Edition. Mr. Peyton has been a speaker at numerous events sponsored by the Bar Associations in California, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois as well as on various radio and television appearances as an expert on Mexican law.
